CFP championship: Prop bets for Michigan vs. Washington

The Michigan Wolverines will take on the Washington Huskies in the 2024 CFP championship game Monday night. Michigan is a 4.5-point favorite, but we're not worried about the spread here. Instead, let's break down two prop bets we're targeting for the national title game.

Blake Corum to score 2+ touchdowns (+135 DraftKings)

This Michigan offense runs through Blake Corum, especially in the red zone. The star running back has scored 26 total touchdowns this season to lead the country, and he's scored multiple touchdowns in 10 of Michigan's 14 games. Corum has found the end zone at least twice in six straight games, yet he's still plus money to score twice in the CFP National Championship.

The Wolverines are so dominant along their offensive line that they rarely deviate from the running game inside the red zone. Corum is almost guaranteed to touch the ball every time Michigan moves the ball inside the 10-yard line, which it should be able to do a handful of times against this Washington defense. This prop shouldn't be better than even money.

Michael Penix Jr. under 39.5 pass attempts (-114 FanDuel)

This number is too high for how we expect this game to play out. Michael Penix Jr. has cleared 39.5 pass attempts in only four of his 14 starts this year, and he hasn't attempted more than 42 passes in a single game. Now he has to go up against the best statistical defense in college football.

Michigan ranks first in the country in points allowed per game (10.2), first in yards allowed per game (243.1), second in passing yards allowed per game (150.0) and third in opponent passer rating (101.8). Washington hasn't seen a defense of this caliber all season, so expect them to struggle to move the ball early on in the game.

Michigan also has a methodical offense that bleeds clock with a large portion of running plays, which will only limit Washington's offensive possessions.
