Michigan football fans have been wondering when the Wolverines’ commitment drought is going to end. While it’s hard to be patient, I’m not overly concerned and you shouldn’t be either.

The Wolverines have an entirely new defensive staff plus a new head coach. They are building some momentum and one of the top-ranked recruits in the state of Michigan is trending in their direction.

Avery Gach, who is ranked second among recruits in the state of Michigan for the 2025 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, picked up a second crystal ball in favor of Michigan football from Allen Trieu of 247 Sports.

Gach is 6-foot-5, 275 pounds and is ranked No. 228 overall in the 2025 class. He’s also ranked 12th among offensive tackles in the 2025 class.

O-line breaking commitment drought would be fitting

It’s hard to guess when the commitment drought of Michigan football might end. There are a few candidates to be Sherrone Moore’s first pledge as head coach. Gach would be perfect though. Moore, the former offensive line coach, is known for his O-line coaching, plus his commitment to running the ball.

Having an offensive lineman as the first commitment would be fitting. The Wolverines just need to end the drought though. They have started trending with a few different prospects in the 2025 class. Dawayne Galloway from Ohio is one. Taz Williams, a four-star wideout, is another.

Gach has picked up projections for Michigan football across multiple networks though and it feels like a matter of when, not if, in terms of his pledge to the Wolverines.
