Jon Jones jokes about ‘spy in camp’ after Jan Blachowicz claims he fled light heavyweight division out of fear
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

When Jon “Bones” Jones became the light heavyweight champion, he was the youngest to do it in the UFC. However, more recently, older fighters like Glover Teixeira , Jan Blachowicz , and Alex Pereira have become champions in the division. Jones is now at heavyweight, and Blachowicz alleged a reason why Bones is not at light heavyweight anymore.

Jan Blachowicz recently claimed he was the reason Jones moved up to heavyweight. Blachowicz attributed it to fear. The Pole had won the title vacated by Jones by defeating Dominick Reyes, and a fight with Jones was a possibility. However, Jones has not taken Blachowicz’s recent comments lightly. He sent a hilarious but subtly stern message to the Polish fighter on X.

I swear I have a spy in my camp, how else would he had known this? Over here, scratching my head. Jon Jones via X

The ‘spy in my camp’ comment might be a self-troll, as Quinton Rampage Jackson accused Jones of it when they fought. MMA math does not work, but a potential Jones vs. Blachowicz matchup is an exciting prospect for fight fans. Unlike many of Jones’ contemporaries, the Pole has the size matchup against Bones.

After all, Blachowicz knocked out Reyes, the man who many thought beat Jones. In doing so, he won the vacant light heavyweight title that Jones vacated. Nonetheless, the matchup would favor Jones as Blachowicz has struggled against better grappler-wrestlers like Teixeira, Magomed Ankalaev , and Corey Anderson (in their first bout).

What did Jan Blachowicz say about Jon Jones?

Jan Blachowicz has not won a fight since he defeated Aleksandar Rakic in May 2022. Rakic lost due to injury. Discounting that fight, the last ‘actual’ victory of Blachowicz was back in March 2021 against Israel Adesanya. Nevertheless, he is the 4th ranked UFC light heavyweight as of now.

Blachowicz recently gave an exclusive interview with Fanatics View, where he made a case for a rematch against Alex Pereira, the UFC light heavyweight champion. Moreover, he claimed in the interview why Jones vacated the light heavyweight title and went on a hiatus.

[Jon Jones] escaped to heavyweight because I was in my prime when he left…He knew that if he meet me, he’s going to lose.

For Blachowicz, Jones made a great decision to move to heavyweight. Nonetheless, Blachowicz hopes one day he will fight the arguable GOAT of MMA inside the octagon. Jones likely has 2-3 fights left in him. Jones’ plans as of now are to fight Stipe Miocic and Alex Pereira. Nonetheless, if Blachowicz miraculously becomes the light heavyweight champion, a champ vs champ matchup with Jones could happen.
