Allen Lazard is Green Bay's No. 1 receiver

With Davante Adams now in Las Vegas and Marquez Valdes-Scantling now in Kansas City, the Green Bay Packers are going to see a new face playing the role of the No. 1 receiver in 2022. The most likely candidate appears to be fifth-year receiver Allen Lazard

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers had this to say about the former Iowa State Cyclone last week as training camp opened up in Green Bay: "I think Allen is ready to make a jump and be a No. 1 wide receiver. Excited about the opportunity to work with him. He's capable of a lot. Since his first day, he's turned heads...He's been working hard. He has a lot to prove to himself... I like a hungry Allen Lazard... Allen sets the standard."

Lazard is coming off of a career year in 2021 despite only starting in 13 games and playing through injury. He set career highs in targets (60), receptions (40), receiving yards (513) and touchdowns (8). No. 13 stands at 6-foot-5 and weighs nearly 230 lbs. He is a matchup nightmare when given the opportunity. The first-down machine also finished ninth among receivers with at least 50 targets in first down conversions last season (46.7% of receptions were turned into first downs in 2021). After learning from Davante Adams and veteran Randall Cobb for the last few seasons, Lazard appears to be primed for another career season and will have a real shot at taking the league by storm with his capabilities and potential.

Looking at 2022, the Packers also added veteran Sammy Watkins and drafted three rookie receivers in Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Samori Toure. Cobb is back for his 10th season in Green Bay and 12th season overall, along with second-year receiver Amari Rodgers. For the Packers to be dominant in the passing game, this unique group of receivers will have to be collectively dominant. That is how they can help out Rodgers. It all starts with Lazard.
