Goalkeeper Bento has a “promise” from Athletico Paranaense to allow him to join Inter Milan this summer transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInter1908.

Reports indicate that Bento is a major target for Inter.

The Nerazzurri have been tracking the Brazilian for at least a year.

However, now Inter appear to have decided to go all-in on signing Bento.

The 24-year-old is the player who Inter believe is the ideal candidate to become their starting goalkeeper in the long term.

At the moment, that is Yann Sommer. The 35-year-old joined Inter from Bayern Munich last summer, and his form has hardly been a problem for this summer.

But the fact remains that, even if Sommer is able to keep his current level up for a couple more seasons, he is hardly the solution beyond that point.

Therefore, Inter see a long-term successor as a major priority. They want to sign a younger keeper who can back up Sommer for a season before taking over permanently.

Bento Has “Promise” From Athletico Paranaense To Let Him Join Inter Milan

Inter will aim to make their move for Bento in the coming weeks.

The Nerazzurri know that, while the Brazilian has a release clause of €60 million, Paranaense will likely let him go for around €20 million.

That price tag is not entirely unproblematic for Inter – but the Nerazzurri are confident they can make it happen by making a couple of smaller sales.

However, there is the matter of competition for Bento’s signature.

The Brazilian is now a full international for the Selecao. That has attracted some competition, naturally.

Teams from the Premier League in particular could potentially raise the price tag for Bento.

But Inter have a potential ace in the hole.

Bento himself is determined to join the Nerazzurri. He has been since last summer.

And at the time, Paranaense gave the goalkeeper a verbal promise that they would allow him to join Inter this summer if he stayed for one more season.

That could potentially be decisive in allowing the Nerazzurri to sign the 24-year-old now.
