Having been dropped like a stone by Milan after #Nopetegui fan protests, Julen Lopetegui has shifted his priorities to the Premier League and West Ham United.

The Spanish tactician had been seemingly on the verge of shaking hands with the Rossoneri to take over from Stefano Pioli this summer.

However, owner Gerry Cardinale was pushed into a very abrupt turnaround when Milan fans revolted, starting a petition to block the appointment and making the hashtag #Nopetegui trend on social media.

Lopetegui was also mentioned as one of the many options for the Bayern Munich bench, but the most likely destination has always been West Ham.

Only last week, before the protests had reached a fever pitch, it had been reported that Lopetegui kept West Ham on ice because his focus was clearly on Milan in Serie A and the Champions League.

Now that this is no longer an option for him, Sky Sports UK insist Lopetegui’s “priority” is a return to the Premier League and he is “excited” about the possibility of taking charge at West Ham United.
